Day Out in Hastings

A day out with my family in Hastings, East Sussex, England.

Hastings Storm 18/07/2014

While sitting in the bar at the White Rock Hotel with a few friends we noticed a large storm coming across the English Channel toward us so I decided to take a few photographs of the cloud formations.

The photographs were taken on the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. This is available from Amazon.co.uk, visit the affiliate link below:-

Rain in the Forest

While in a local forest during the rain I noticed how peaceful and relaxing it was with the sound of the rain passing through the canopy above. I setup my camera on a tree branch facing upward and recorded a few minutes of footage.

This video was taken on the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. This is available from Amazon.co.uk, visit the affiliate link below:-

HP ProBook 450 G1 Review

A short video of me unboxing the new HP ProBook 450 G1 laptop.

Review
I’ve tested quite a few different models of laptop to help me decide upon a benchmark machine for my “remote working” colleague’s. My must have requirements were for a sub £500 laptop capable of running the latest Microsoft Office applications. Pre-installed with the Windows 7 Professional operating system (Windows 8.1 downgrade) and available with a 3yr Next Business Day On-Site warranty. This machine fit’s the bill nicely.
The only thing I didn’t like with the HP brand was having to manually register the warranty online. This can be a real pain when purchasing lots of laptops. Dell warranties are automatically registered.

Closed, the laptop is nice and compact with a matte black plastic finish. Unlike some of its competitors the battery when connected is fully incorporated within the chassis so no ugly lumps sticking out underneath. Opened, the laptop looks very smart although feels cheap to the touch. The keyboard is nice and responsive along with the touchpad. Just a shame they couldn’t have used better materials. The interface ports are all found along the left and right edges of the laptop with a memory card reader on the front edge. There are no ports on the rear. The screen is a 15.6 inch LED with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 which is more than adequate for my intended users.

This is a great entry level business specification laptop.
